We made use of socks in our latest video to do some fun and educational activities with.

Here’s a few more, age appropriate activities

3-6 Months

  • Fill a sock with a plastic shopping bag.  Close it with an elastic band or ribbon.  Roll it over your baby’s body naming the body parts as you go along.

  • Press the “sock” to make a noise from different areas in the room and see if he can follow where the sound is coming from.

  • Tie a rope onto one end, hang the sock within your baby’s reach and let your baby try to reach it, catch it and kick it.

  • Make a sock “puppet”.  Us an old sock and sew or paste anything you can find in your house resembling eyes, a nose and hair onto it.  Keep the puppet 30cm from your baby’s eyes and whilst baby is on his back, starting in the middle, move the puppet from side to side; up and down and in the shape of a lazy 8.  Make sure baby follows the puppet with his eyes, if they lose focus, start in the middle again.  Turn baby on his tummy and repeat the exercise

7 – 12 Months

  • Put a sock on your baby’s hands and feet – let them try and pull it off.  You can also put it on your hands asking baby to pull it off.
